As you get to the tournament, the first thing to do will be to sign in.
Your child will find the sign in sheets and pick the correct color of
sign in sheet according to age divisions.
After filling out the sign in sheet, the wrestler will then go to weigh
in. During the weigh in process, the wrestlers weight will be marked on
a hand. Please keep in mind that at this point, mothers may not be able
to follow their boy into the locker room for weigh in and the same goes
for dad and daughter. |

Being on time for weigh in is very important.
When weigh ins are over, the pairing office will start to create the
charts. The charts will be hung on the walls in the different age
divisions and in order of weight class. The charts will tell the
wrestler who he wrestles next and how he scored in previous matches.
Understanding the chart can be a little daunting at first. Don't be
afraid to ask for help.
When the tournament begins, it will begin with the youngest age
divisions. 5-6 year olds will wrestle first moving up through the weight
classes. The 7-8 year olds will wrestle after the 5- 6 year olds have
finished their first round. After two rounds each of 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10
the 11-12 age division will start its first round followed by 13-14. 5-6
year olds will start their third round of matches after the 13-14 year
olds finish their first.
During the whole tournament, age groups and weight classes will be
called to "Staging" over a public address system. During the staging
process, the wrestler will receive the bout slip. There will be one bout
slip per match. The bout slip will contain the name of both wrestlers. |
After leaving the staging process a line usually forms at the “tower”.
The tower is occupied by a volunteer and will tell the wrestlers which
of the many mats they will be wrestling on. At this point an available
coach will follow you to your mat. Only two coaches are permitted on the
mat with the wrestler at a time.
Let’s get ready to RUMBLE !!!
Most venues will offer food and refreshments. You are also permitted to
bring a cooler with food and drinks of your own.
Most seasoned parents bring something to soften the gymnasium bleacher
seats.
Vendors are usually on site for wrestling gear and related items.
Carrying a copy of the wrestler's birth certificate to a tournament
could save time and frustration.
